Bangor, ME- Social Media 101 is the topic at the Maine Public Relations Council’s professional development seminar on Friday, March 27 at Husson University’s Dyke Center for Family Business. The presenters are Elizabeth Sutherland, APR, and Cary Weston, from Sutherland Weston Marketing Communications. Kara Matuszewki, news anchor WLBZ 2, and Kristen Andresen, writer /editor at the University of Maine, formerly Shop Girl for the Bangor Daily News, and now MaineMaven.com will join them for a panel discussion following their presentation.
Social media is the newest, hottest trend in Internet marketing and is poised for exponential growth in the years to come. This workshop will teach you about the approaches to monitoring and engaging consumers in social media. Through a quick vocabulary lesson and regional case studies, participants will learn how to engage targets and glean valuable knowledge of how consumers are interacting with brands. A brief panel discussion on how social media can be used in different fields will end the session.

The van will leave from the Park and Ride lot close to Exit 47 off the Maine Turnpike at 7 a.m. and return to the same location around 1:30 p.m. You must notify Peter DeWitt at peter.dewitt@twcable.com by March 20 if you want to ride in the van.
Directions: From the North or the South, take Interstate 95 to Bangor and take exit 185 (formerly 48), Broadway. Turn right off the exit and go .5 mile. At the light just after the Rite Aid, take a left turn onto Husson Avenue and proceed to the stop sign. Turn right at the stop sign and left at the large rock. The Center is on the left.
